Recommendations to fill two full days in Negambo prior the tour

Extra Days

Looking for recommendations to fill two full days before my tour starts. I'm interested in Wildlife, food and culture, or even a good ol' Ayurvedic Spa Treatment session? Especially keen to hear from anyone who’s spent a bit of time in Negambo, and thus has personal recommendations. We are booked for the 14th June departure if anyone else is also booked for those dates?

Hey which hotel are you staying at? We were at jetwing sea and booked a nature tour including the canals and also a city tour both were cheap and excellent

I’m sure all jetwing hotels do the same tours

staying at the Intrepid Jetwing Hotel - do you remember which tour operator you used? The tripadvisor reviews are a mine field! Did you just book via the hotel on the day?

I booked via the hotel. It was tours the jetwing hotel offered

They had posters on the walls with a few different tours

Great fun drivers

I had an amazing massage at Jasmin Villa Ayurvedic Resort - Day Spa, booked by the first Intrepid hotel we were at. There was a brochure at reception and it was all a bit confusing, but the price included pickup and delivery back to the hotel in Negombo.

thank you. I'll google them and see if I can book on line - might be a lovely treat on the first morning after the flight!

The canal boat tour was fun. I did it before joining my tour in 2018

For an amazing food experience I recommend the Salt Restaurant in Negombo, which was a great find - just behind the Terrace Green Hotel. A good quality initial taster of Sri Lanka food before our tour. I counted at least ten chefs, all dressed in black, preparing our food in the open kitchen!

I organised a day tour on the Get your Guide app

I just picked a few places I thought I'd like and either got tuk tuks or walked between them. The PickMe app is a local thing similar to uber or Grab, and saves you negotiating fares and any possible misunderstandings over where you want to go. Each tuk tuk ride cost me a dollar or so.
