Cuba: Updated 17 March 2026

Safety

Cuba is currently facing repeated nationwide power outages, including the March 16 island‑wide blackout that left roughly 10 million people without electricity. We expect that the current global fuel shortage will further intensify Cuba's limited local fuel supply in the coming weeks, increasing the likelihood of disruptions to essential services.

Travellers currently in Cuba can safely continue and complete their itineraries as planned; however, due to the anticipated worsening of conditions, we are cancelling future trips to Cuba up to and including April 30. All affected customers will be contacted by their booking agent.

We are continuing to monitor the situation on the ground and decisions about departures beyond April 2026 will be made in the coming weeks.

The FCDO is currently advising against all but essential travel to Cuba.

Cuba is experiencing significant disruption to essential infrastructure, including persistent power outages across the country and fuel shortages.

These conditions significantly affect the ability of visitors to access reliable transport, medical care, communications, and basic services.

At this time we are not running any trips to Cuba, however we are in constant contact with our team in Cuba and will continue to monitor government advice.
